Knitted Beaded Scarf with Crochet trim

1 skein Nuthatch Cable cotton/rayon yarn (300 yds)

Size 2 knitting needles for scarf

Size D crochet hook for edging.

284 beads, size 10

 

String beads onto yarn.

Cast on 32.

Knit 1 row.  Purl 1 row.  [Stockinette stitch]

 

Pattern:

Row 1:  K3, P1, slip bead into place, P1, K6, P1, bead, P1, K6, P1, bead, P1, K6, P1, bead, P1,K3.

Row 2-6: Stockinette Stitch.  Begin and end with purl row.

Row 7: K7, P1, bead, P1, K6, P1, bead, P1, K6, P1, bead, P1, K7

Row 8-12: Stockinette stitch.  Begin and end with purl row.

 

Continue pattern until 4 beads are left.  Knit Row 1 of pattern with last 4 beads.

Purl 1 row.

Knit and bind off next row.

 

Edging:  Crochet shell stitch [4 double crochet in shell, 1 slip stitch between shells] all the way around the scarf.

 

Tie off, weave in loose ends.

To block flat:  Gently wet scarf out in cool water and lay straight and flat on towels to air dry.
